Your work is yours
You own the manuscripts, notes, lore, outlines, and other material you create or import. We take only the limited permission we need to store it, show it back to you, and run the features you ask for.
Terms of Service
Novelle is a writing room for long-form fiction. These terms describe what you can expect from us and what we ask of you. By creating an account or using Novelle, you agree to them. Last updated October 26, 2026.
You own the manuscripts, notes, lore, outlines, and other material you create or import. We take only the limited permission we need to store it, show it back to you, and run the features you ask for.
Keep your account to yourself, write things you have the right to write, and do not use Novelle to harm other people or the service itself.
AI features can be wrong, repetitive, or unhelpful. You decide what to keep. We do not guarantee the accuracy or originality of anything a model suggests.
You need an account to use Novelle. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher. Keep your sign-in details private and tell us promptly if you believe someone else has used your account. You are responsible for activity that happens under it.
Novelle may offer different plans with different limits, including limits on AI usage, imports, images, and storage. The limits that apply to your plan are shown in the product. We may enforce them by slowing, pausing, or declining requests that exceed them.
You retain all rights in the content you create, upload, or import into Novelle. We do not claim copyright in your work and we do not use your manuscripts to train AI models.
So that the service can function, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, display, and transmit your content as needed to provide Novelle to you. That includes sending relevant parts of a project to AI providers when you invoke an AI feature, as described on the privacy page. This license ends when you delete the content or close your account, except where we need to keep copies for a short period in backups or to meet legal obligations.
You are responsible for the content you bring into Novelle. Only import or write material you have the right to use. Do not upload content that infringes someone else's rights, that is illegal where you live, or that contains other people's private information without permission.
Do not attempt to access other users' projects, probe or overload the service, reverse engineer it, or circumvent plan limits, rate limits, or safety controls. Do not use Novelle to generate content intended to harass, defraud, or endanger people, or to build a competing service by scraping its output. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, and we will try to tell you why when it is safe to do so.
AI features such as The Margin, Continue, Critique, import analysis, style learning, and image generation are powered by third-party models. Their output is generated automatically and may be inaccurate, biased, or similar to material the model has seen before. You are responsible for reviewing anything you keep, and for how you use it. Where the law allows, you own the output generated from your prompts and content, and we make no claim to it.
AI features may be limited, changed, or turned off at any time, including to control cost or abuse. We may require a specific plan for some or all AI features.
Novelle is an early product. We work to keep it available and to protect your writing, but we cannot promise uninterrupted service or that data will never be lost. Keep your own copies of work that matters to you. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may change these terms. If a change is significant, we will give notice in the product or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Novelle after that means you accept the updated terms.
You can stop using Novelle at any time. When you delete a project, its chapters, notes, lore, and images are removed from the live service and purged from backups on our normal retention schedule. If you want your whole account removed, email support@writenovelle.app from the address on the account and we will delete it along with its projects. We may close accounts that remain in breach of these terms or that have been inactive for a long period, with notice where practical.
Novelle is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of Novelle. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or one hundred US dollars if you have paid nothing. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so some of them may not apply to you.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Novelle's operator is based, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Where possible, we would rather resolve a disagreement by talking than through a court, so please reach out first.
Questions about these terms, privacy, billing, or a problem with the product all go to support@writenovelle.app. Security reports are welcome at the same address; please give us a reasonable window to fix an issue before publishing it.
How we handle your writing and what AI features send to providers is covered on the Privacy & AI page. That page is part of these terms.
